A Dog About Town

If you haven't yet introduced yourself to Randolph and his owner, Harry, you just don't know what you're missing.  Randolph is a black lab like no other.  A little pudgy (okay, that's not so unusual), he reads Dante and  Proust, enjoys Chinese take-out, and is a dyed in the wool "foliage finder" - his words for dogs who prefer a little privacy while doing their numbers. Follow Randolph and his Harry through Manhattan while they solve a murder, agonize with Randolph when he spends all night using Alpha-Bits to write a message to Harry, only to have it swept away, unread, and get caught up in the not-to-be-missed characters that you find only in NYC.  This book is a great, light-hearted read that will definitely keep you entertained and wanting more, including a Randolph of your very own (and that's coming from a Leonberger devotee).

Personally, I've been saving the next book in the series, A Dog Among Diplomats, along with a Carol Lea Benjamin novel, to savor when I'm on vacation.
